MORE CAPACITY - INCREASE IN TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE
Increased demand for energy and energy production from alternative sources mean that constant expansion of the supply grids is required. During periods when there is limited availability of overhead line routes, uprating existing overhead lines with higher-performance conductors becomes ever more important.
What is more, the transmission capacities of the overhead conductors must also be increased considerably in order to cover peak outputs. Higher operating voltages, larger conductor cross sections and/or multiple conductor arrangements cannot generally be realised without additional work.
With its specialisation in thermal resistant overhead conductors, LUMPI-BERNDORF offers a technologically sophisticated and sustainable solution to this problem.
THE CAPACITY INCREASE TAKES PLACE IN THREE STAGES
STAGE 1:
CONDUCTORS WITH A CAPACITY INCREASE OF UP TO APPROX. 50%
Due to their aluminium-zirconium alloy, these conductors enable the continuous operating temperature to be raised to 150 °C and therefore permit an increase of approx. 50% in the continuous current carrying capacity.
STAGE 2:
CONDUCTORS WITH A CAPACITY INCREASE OF UP TO APPROX. 100%
Due to their aluminium-zirconium alloy, these types of conductors enable the continuous operating temperature to be raised to 210 °C and therefore permit an increase of approx. 100% in the continuous current carrying capacity.
STAGE 3:
BLACK SPECIAL COATING
With a black-coated conductor surface even more energy can be transferred thanks to increased radiation, i.e. the continuous current carrying capacity is increased by a few additional percent.
