EARTHWIRES AND CONDUCTORS WITH INTEGRATED OPTICAL FIBRES

OPGW/OPPC - ANOTHER HIGH-TECH PRODUCT FROM LUMPI-BERNDORF, FOR UNIMPEDED DATA AND ENERGY TRANSMISSION

Fibre optic earthwires/conductors for combined energy and data transmission in the field of telecommunications are among the high-tech products available from LUMPI-BERNDORF. The strands may be used either as earth wires or as phase conductors.

The actual communication elements, the optical fibres, are arranged in small stainless steel tubes. In conjunction with a moisture-repellent gel, the hermetically-sealed small steel tubes provide optimal protection against mechanical stresses and humidity. So as to make it possible to distinguish between the small stainless steel tubes, they may also be equipped with a surface marking if required.

QUALITY MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

Stranded together with aluminium clad steel, aluminium and/or aluminium alloy wires to create a robust design, the special product design offers perfect protection for the optical fibres.

Fibre optic earthwires and conductors can be mechanically and optically tested using our own tensile testing equipment. OPGW/OPPC from LUMPI-BERNDORF have already been submitted to numerous tests, including tensile, transverse compression, fibre excess length and lightning tests, and these have clearly indicated the high quality and reliability of the products.

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS

The small stainless steel tubes can be arranged in the centre or in the first layer of the earthwire/conductor. Round or trapezoidal wires can be used, depending on the mechanical, electrical and customer-specific requirements. OPGW/OPPC from LUMPI-BERNDORF may be designed and used either as earth wires or as phase conductors.

VERSIONS

A version with colour coating is available to enable use as a camouflage earthwire/conductor in sensitive environmental areas. Our anti-corona bead-blasted conductors are used to reduce noise emissions.
